MY OLD HOME FAR AWAY

In dreams I wander back again across the ocean blue,
To dwell again among the friends that long ago I knew.
Those good old friends I knew of old, where are they all today?
Or will I ever see them ‘round my old home far away’.

I seem to see that little School where I spent my boyhood years,
And yet I hear the Masters voice still ringing in my ears.
I seem to see each Schoolmate there, where once I used to play,
And fertile hills and valleys of my old home far away.

I’ve sailed all round Lough Carra’s shore so peaceful and serene.
And Ballintubber Abbey, fine it dominates the scene!
The shady woods around Castleburke, where once I used to play,
And the fertile hills and valleys of my old home far away.

And often in the good old days, those hills I roamed with glee,
From the high hills of Dromore, to the glens in Partree,
And often as my thoughts go back across the raging sea,
My heart is in old Ireland and my old home far away.
