If ever a team can take hits and keep coming back it's the Mayo Senior team who again came so close to the top Gaelic football on Saturday evening. Despite having 2 players receiving black cards along with a number of injuries throughout the gripping All-Ireland final replay, this Mayo team wouldn't give in. In the end it was a number of critical substitutions that pushed Dublin over the line in the closing moments but in truth the honesty of the Mayo performance was hugely admirable. The huge Mayo support will only came out even stronger in 2017 to push this group over the line as there is no reason why Mayo cannot keep up the remarkable drive for Sam. Ballintubber G.A.A. Club are hugely proud of its involvement with captain Cillian O'Connor leading the way with 0-8 from frees where hopefully he can continue with our Senior team next Saturday evening in Aghamore. Same applies to Diarmuid who ran himself into the ground while his early point in the second half was one to remember. Alan Dillon possibly made his final performance in a Mayo shirt in the second half and as usual he was not found wanting following a remarkable career covering over 12 years on the Mayo senior panel. Again Alan will be a crucial part to the Ballintubber team who still are missing the influential Jason Gibbons who continues to recover from his shoulder injury. Thanks for the memories boys and please God 2017 will be the year - keep the faith!!
